Sometimes I'm glad I don't have a TV at home - in the UK, and I limit all of that to watching the news and a few documentaries online. Lately however, I realized that my UK TV culture is far too poor. Not because I am hoping to have more conversational back ups with my future colleagues, aiming to be able to know everything about the X Factor or Big Brother or Eastenders. Just in case conversations about the weather bore me. Please no. I just need to catch up with it, it's nothing different than reading the paper or watching films or "doing some research" on the internet.

When I get to my parents' house, the TV almost turns into some mysterious source of social observation to me. I try and watch as much as "nationally cultural" content as I can, which is why my Italian TV culture ends up being somehow wider.
I'm probably biased by the local situation, in which TV and politics have a bizarre connection, but I really struggle to keep a balance between observing and getting genuinely annoyed about most of its content and the aim of showing it. Maybe that's why I decided not to watch the TV. Hmm.

I just can't help feeling a little bit frustrated about the way the TV (here but not only) deals with lots of things that are a relevant factor in my life, such as being a woman / female / girl etc. I'm clearly used to it, and no I'm not a feminist and no, so far it hasn't been too bad but it's still irritating. Just the way I don't necessarily agree with the pre packed life styles that people should just stick to without having any thoughts about it.
It just shows me a universe of people I might really not have a lot in common with. Well, maybe we'd like the same kind of food or something like that, but that would be about it really.

Outland - April - show for Ben Bracket - R.I.P

Ben Bracket - [b]racket, our friend (and housemate) passed away last week.

This show is dedicated to him.
He was a great Dj and wicked producer. More of his music will be recovered soon.. In the meantime I played a few of the bits I had and a mix he did at the end of last year (thanks to Ben Amesbury for uploading it).

It felt really weird and surreal.. It still does. i don't think I have totally realised it yet.

But the good memories are what really matters and lives at this point..

Ben will be really missed. This was a big loss and my thoughts go to all his friends and his family.
R.I.P Ben.

As you might have noticed or read or heard or not, Ben aka [b]racket, our friend and housemate left us on Sunday night.

Ben was one of the loveliest people I met and a reference point for me.

I'll miss you lots, we all will.
The memory stays. I still can't believe you're not here anymore.
Was lovely to be a "little sister" during this time.. :)
Such a shame you went so soon.

Ok, we all made it back from Bloc.
I have to say it's been a weird time, especially the last couple of weeks.
Funny how sometimes other people have the power to totally mess up your life when it's actually the last thing you want and need.
I was almost not going to go to Bloc up to the day before.
Was good I went though! Heard some very nice sets and met some very nice people..Really good vibes overall!
I was supposed to leave on the Sunday, then at the end I changed my ticket :D
Even my mum was telling me to stay after I told her we had chalets to sleep lol

..I haven't forgotten the y, it's in German.

Ok so, after the last show I had another 2 deadlines and 1 exam I finally managed to finish and then had a week of doing almost nothing - alas finally going out and sorting out random stuff I hadn't done before.

I went to this funny night at Corsica where I didn't know any of the people attending but I knew my ex bosses - collegues so it ended up being quite funny..!
There was an exhibion by some of the fine arts students at Goldsmiths followed by some bands / Djs I didn't know, but I remember these guys called Crystal Fighters..

I then found the "Piece of sht magazine" which I actually payed almost a pound.
Haven't read it yet but I'm sure it's worth its money.

Anyways, just figured out there should be a few nice mixes coming up on the next shows: would love to put up the schedule but I'll wait until the time comes :)

Here it's been snowing all day and I get bits of tornado in my room despite of the windows..

Other than that, don't know if you know this guy called Beppe Grillo.
You probably don't, and if you do you might be between those who dislike him, but saying it all..I'm sure that he charges a lot of money for his shows, that he's not a Saint, that he's sometimes a bit rude / etc, but I still find interesting stuff on his blog noone speaks about..Or not many people at least.

If you understand a bit of Italian (probably not), I just watched this (link below), and now, I think it's totally ridiculous that 6 months are what those people will be charged with, on the other hand it's the first time that police officers get condemned in Italy.

Oh my god I had such a good laugh listening back to this.
I have to admit it was really good fun.
Good ol'Stormie got very tipsy and cracked me up.

Ian Mash 4 Cash was a very good sound engineer / chatroom secretary.
Actually I'm waiting for him as he'll drop the recording during his evening bike ride (in winter..?!!)..
Looks like Rob Boothy also got tipsy, phisically on his own but spiritually with us.

I won't start mentioning what I played, I'll just wait for Ian to bring the recording, right.

Next one if I'm not wrong should be on February 16th.

Going to Lisbon before that so we'll see if I'll get back with some Portuguese new tracks..

This blog feels like my diary.
I would always write some weird stuff on there, then read it again a year after and go like "..huh?".
Oh well.
So, looks like I haven't posted anything in 10 months, but because of this radio show thing I thought I'd revitalise it before trying to put up the archives for it.
I had a few nice experiences in the last few months, such as the Red Bull academy term in Barcelona, settling down in this nice area here in London, coming out of a really annoying and frustrating creative block - which seems to be coming back slowly.
Would like to put some pictures and stuff but I don't think I'm up for big web egos right now. :D

Now, obviously winter brought back some usual emotional disorders on the top of a bombardment of deadlines at uni which I almost screwed up because of me not being able to organise my time.

Then I got this radio slot offered by my housemate, which I wasn't sure I wanted to take. He also showed me this wicked artist from Paris who funny enough had my track on his myspace, and as soon as I took 2 minutes to think about it, these 2 things only got me more inspired than any music I've listened to lately.

Now, I just bumped into this video of a Chris Clark liveset (I think?can't really see, and the video even only cuts 30 seconds of each tune or so)...I always liked his lullaby stuff..Was some of that stuff that almost made me sob for how amazing it was.

Then he started making techno.
I recently actually saw Chris Clark playing his techno stuff at Corsica.
And I really enjoyed it - I also enjoyed all that absynth tho, which is probably part of the reason why I forgot about that gig up till now.

Hallo

Dot and myself put out Immigrant 002 about a month ago - yea was due much earlier..
You can find it on Boomkat, Warpmart etc etc etc even Phonica as I thought to be cheeky and ask them if they had that amazing record by Dot and Subeena and just selling it to them when they showed me the links to the other Immigrant Records instead..

I don't really know what's coming next, but I haven't finished a tune in ages and seeing Autechre live the other night at that carpark / warehouse (big up Tom again..man behind it) really made me get artistic envy..So when I tried to get something out of it and it didn't sound vaguely like it I got very annoyed.

Next week I'm playing at the House Party - also Plastician, D1, Rustie? and more

Next is Sub Conscious in April.

Even tho it was months ago, I thought I'd still post it, also because of Boomey's debut on the mic: that was a moment, because after that he started doing it pretty every late night :)

I think I had never seen Benga looking at someone like that...was funny tho!!
